Events

The Society of Virginia supports various events during the year including a reception for Virginia’s cherry Blossom Princess during Cherry Blossom week, a spring brunch usually held at Fort Belvoir, a summer picnic, a fall event  and a Christmas-Holiday event at the Fairfax Country Club.

For the 2009/2010 season, the following events are planned. Further details will be listed under their individual tabs as more information becomes available.

Sunday, February 14, 2010 – 11:00 AM - Valentine Brunch at Fort Belvoir Officer’s Club - $30.00 per person for champagne brunch including salmon, shrimp, roast beef, ham and much more. Learn more about the history of Virginia from our speaker.

Saturday March 20, 2010 - Virginia Princess Reception at Ft. Myer

Friday, December 4, 2009 at 7:00 PM – Holiday Party at Country Club of Fairfax, Ox Road, Fairfax.  Cost is $?? per person with a choice of beef filet or chicken with crab. Music for singing and dancing provided.  Door prizes!

Saturday, January 30, 2010 - Wreaths Across America at Arlington Cemetery at 8:15 AM Wreath Pickup– this event gives people the opportunity to pickup the 16 thousand plus wreaths placed by 7000 volunteers on the graves of our fallen heroes in December that were provided by Worcester Wreath Company in Maine.   Please see wreathsacrossamerica.org for additional information and pictures.  Please contact driftabit@aol.com of the Maine State Society (mainestatesociety.org) that coordinates this event if you are interested in participating and being placed on the e-mail list or just show up.   We expect 2,000 volunteers to help clean up. It can be an extremely rewarding experience.
